Position: Clinical Director

Located on the Beautiful Campus of Sedona Sky Academy near Sedona

Reports to: Executive Director

Summary

In addition to providing direct therapy services for students is responsible for the clinical program administration including individual, group and family therapy, treatment planning, case management and related functions, supervise all therapists and coordinates the treatment of Sedona Sky Students, including staff growth and development activity and IOP activities. Recommends and develops policies and procedures for various school activities. Performs related administrative and supervisory duties to insure efficient and effective clinical operation of the school.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To conduct psychosocial evaluations of assigned students. Interviews and assures that the student, Parents/Guardians, and significant others are interviewed to obtain data on the student’s personal, social, developmental, and emotional history. Prepares and assures that a complete psycho-social history is done on each student to provide information on the student’s personality and behavior including information regarding physical and mental conditions; heredity, social, developmental, school environment and personalities in the family, group, as well as the student’s reaction to them.
  • To supervise and conduct the weekly clinical staffing where students treatment plans are formulated, updated and discharge and aftercare plans are formulated.
  • To conduct a (minimum) monthly therapy department meeting where issues related to job responsibility and execution are discussed and resolved.
  • To assure continuous, appropriate, and effective communication regarding treatment progress and student information among all personnel involved in the schools as well as with Parents/Guardians, referral sources, payor sources, etc.
  • Ensure that all consultants are contacted as expected.
  • Clinical Director should communicate with referral sources to ensure good customer service is being provided.
  • Must ensure therapists are communicating with the Parents/Guardians on a minimum of a weekly basis.
  • Must contact consultants within 72 hours of admission, must ask what type of communication they prefer and how often, and ensure you have their cell phone for emergencies. If a student is reassigned the Clinical Director must call the consultant as soon as possible but no later than 72 hours.
  • Must ensure Parents/Guardians are contacted regarding any issues or incidents regarding their student. Under no circumstances should an email or text replace a phone call.

  • Clinical Directors must participate in all the planning and implementation of family training, family visit days and parent workshops.
  • Responsible for ensuring all therapists are providing feedback to direct care staff on the students specific issues and needs.
  • Assist in establishing criteria for peer review and quality assurance and improvement activities.
  • Assist the Executive Director in developing new policies and procedures.
  • Assist the Academic Director and Admissions Director in the screening of new Sedona Sky applicants for appropriateness.
  • Supervise all therapists in the execution of their job description and conduct yearly performance evaluations.
  • Responsible for timely implementation of the Clinical Competency Program for all therapists.
  • In concert with the Executive Director, is responsible for hiring of new therapist and implementation of disciplinary actions,
  • May be required to participate in budget planning for the primary therapy service.
  • Must consistently demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain good public relations with families, referral agencies, and other community resources.
  • Must have the ability to express ideas clearly, concisely, convincingly, and effectively when addressing an audience.
  • To consistently exercise good judgment and adequate emotional stability in evaluating situations and making decisions despite the pressures of deadlines or the occurrence of unexpected stressful events.
  • Assists and insures that families are helped with problems arising from the student’s admission to the SSA.
  • Participate on committees and in professional meetings and staffing as necessary to the function of the program.
  • Assures consistency in dealing in a tactful and harmonious fashion with staff, students, the public and to adhere to and follow all patients policies and procedures as designated and defined by the Executive Director.
  • Will develop, plan, and implement parenting seminars when required and appropriate.
  • Participates in the marketing and referral development activities
  • Participate in school wide IOP activities.

Education/Training/Experience

  • Minimum of a Master’s Degree in clinical social work, clinical psychology, licensed professional counselor or marriage and family therapy or related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in the area of and/or adolescent treatment is preferred along with a thorough knowledge of emotionally disturbed ren and adolescents.
  • Intervention techniques of individual, group and family therapy in working with students and their families. A basic knowledge of educational, psychological, family and social work systems as related to special education and behavior treatment.
  • Must have a working knowledge of treatment plan development and implementation including charting and progress notes and related documentation skills.
  • Must possess a current certificate for cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first aid.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to physically participate in daily activities with students: walking up and down stairs, bending over, and walking around school grounds.

Judgment & Decision-Making Skills

  • Must be able to consistently work with a team those implements the necessary support/treatment interventions for students.
  • Will report and communicate to supervisor and clinical team any information necessary or suspected to help or impede treatment.
  • Excellent role model and hands on approach.

Pay: $38.00 - $60.00 per hour
