About the Position
This position will require mandatory training for the first three weeks; Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm. Work schedule for the first two months will be Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm. Your 40 hour permanent schedule will be Monday through Friday somewhere between the hours of 6am to 7pm.

Work Environment Requirements:
Your remote environment must be conducive to work, including a designated ergonomic workspace that is free from external distractions and background noise. This includes making appropriate arrangements for dependent care. Workspace must allow for use of all necessary equipment, including up to 2 monitors, and provide enough space to work comfortably.

Internet Requirements:
The University requires your home Internet speed to be a minimum download speed of 50Mbps and upload speed of 10Mbps for optimal technology performance. As an Academic Counselor within UOPX, you'll provide academic advisement, coaching and service, starting from the first class until after graduation.You'll focus on cultivating student development and empowering students to address future challenges and educational goals more effectively. You'll employ strong analytical skills to assess and evaluate student needs to collaborate with students to develop individualized and meaningful action plans, sustain educational growth and development, and encourage student progression toward graduation. You'll use effective communication skills to engage students in continuous contact, influence academic success, apply interventions to potential obstacles and to boost student morale to help them maintain a strong commitment to earning their degree. You are the bridge between academics and administration at the University, ensuring students have access to the information they need to make informed decisions. As the student’s liaison to the University, you'll educate students about policies, procedures and requirements at the University to ensure students clearly understand them and have the support they need to succeed.


1. Develop meaningful relations across a diverse population of students to facilitate progression student success.
2. Collaborate with and coach students through their program by creating specific action plans to remove roadblocks and support their advancement, and long-term success.
3. Assess student needs using all available tools and resources to plan interventions to support student progression.
4. Act as a liaison between the University and students with respect to degree options, program requirements and graduation. Provide students with accurate, complete and timely information on University policies and procedures.
5. Coordinate with students on all credit options to develop an academic plan that is best suited to their needs and career goals while taking into consideration how to minimize cost and time to graduation.
6. Make informed decisions and apply sound judgment to independently support assigned student population.
7. Establish and maintain professional working relationships across internal departments to ensure students benefit from a variety of professional knowledge and perspectives.
8. Provide feedback on ways to continuously improve the student experience by way of recommending changes and sharing student feedback.
9. Perform other duties as assigned or apparent.

Supervisory Responsibilities


Bachelor's Degree
Must be able to travel to offsite meetings or appointments as needed

Prior experience at UOPX or another employer in a counseling, career planning/coaching, enrollment, financial aid, or related role
General knowledge of the higher education industry
Knowledge of fields of study, such as business, education, technology, counseling and/or nursing
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to accurately and effectively convey UOPX information
Computer literate with an ability to learn proprietary software applications
Self-motivated and able to work effectively in a team environment or independently
Able to perform and manage multiple tasks efficiently and effectively

Hiring Range
Hiring range for this position is between $41000 and $46500.

Actual starting base pay may vary based on factors such as education, experience, skills, and location.
